The Mahalia Jackson POP! is a new public outdoor plaza in the Chatham community that offers space for: 🎉 Recreational use 🌻 Gardening 🎻 Live performances 🎨 Pop-up shops This plaza is named after the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. Jackson was a powerhouse vocalist and civil rights activist who used her voice to advocate for Black Americans nationwide. The first of 12 plazas to be developed, the Mahalia Jackson POP! will leave positive, long-lasting, and far-reaching impacts on our entire city.
