New York City Marathon Day is likely the best day of the year, and I don’t know if I have ever been so excited to toe the start line as I was last Sunday. Though I’ve forgotten what it’s like to race long distances (positive splits for positive people!), I haven’t forgotten the energy. And WHOA did the city bring the noise this year. My quads have finally stopped screaming, but I haven’t stopped smiling thinking about the bottlenecks in Brooklyn, the roar of First Avenue, the “last damn bridge” sign in the Bronx, and the final 400 meters leading to that iconic finish line. Huge thanks to my family and friends for coming out to support all of us weirdos who partake in this sport. Sunday felt like a much-needed victory lap that I’ve been seeking for so long, and y’all pulled me through. 🙏 Keep showing up. Keep moving forward.
