“In sickness and in health” - I thought I wouldn’t have to confront this marriage vow for another 30-40 years. The past 4 months has given me greater appreciation for my rights to marry George, which in turn, has allowed me to fully perform my job as his caregiver (the most important job I will ever have.) I couldn’t imagine how difficult this process would be without our protected rights. The GOP and SCOTUS are coming for our rights next...and by “our” I mean every human’s choice to define love and marriage on their own terms. Change happens from the bottom up: consider supporting @swingleft which organizes grassroots volunteers and funds local and state level candidates, including State AG’s (a state's top lawyer and top law enforcement officer), which after the overturning of Roe v Wade will have increased authority over law enforcement and any future reversals of our Constitutional rights.
