"sandra caro"
There's a Zadie essay about this guy Martin Buber who makes a distinction between two ways of relating to others. One is a kind of objectification that incidentally reduces another to an object, defined in relation to you, understood of only through past experience. The second is an acknowledgement of the other as a subject like yourself. The mutuality of such interaction is a kind of presence that these two friends of mine share.
