I’m so excited to be a part of @theapproachfilm 2 ✨ This photo is from a line I skied directly after tomahawking ~ 6 times down my warm up line. Luckily the crew was there to lift me and give me the confidence to go back up. The approach has always meant way more than just making a ski movie. As someone who grew up as “one of the guys”, I’ve internalized a lot of sexism both in my sport and life. Listening to girls get made fun of for falling, how they shouldn’t have skied that line and we’re in over their head made me set an unrealistic standard of perfection for myself. Every tomahawk I did felt like an opportunity for someone to question not only my skill, but a women’s place in the mountains. The approach has taught me to be comfortable with being imperfect. Every fall, or line I wish I skied differently, is celebrated rather than critiqued. I can strive to be better while still being proud of what I’ve done.
