✨Iris Van Herpen ✨ REPOST from @irisvanherpen : A tribute to dearest Alber Elbaz, captured by amazing @stevensebring In memory of Alber’s bold explorations of colour and un-usual interpretations of what is traditionally considered ‘elegant,’ Iris van Herpen draws inspiration from Suminagashi patterns of the ancient Japanese art of ‘Floating Ink on Water’ technique and develops an original pattern which is gradient-dyed in a vibrant colour palette of warm shades of red, purple and oranges, mixed with white and black. The vivid line and print work moves gracefully around the body, culminating in a future-facing silhouette which challenges traditional notions of the handmade and is exquisitely feminine at the same time. The dress took 6 months to make, including development, print and patternmaking, laser cutting as well as hand-stitching the dress.
