This town frozen in time resonated with me from a young age after multiple visits and kept me curious about the supernatural. Whilst I always loved the ghost stories and mythology surrounding the place, I found the traditional Victorian veiled ghost trope too limiting so created ‘Queen Karoo; Ghost of the Desert’, a sorceress bound to the past, endlessly trapsing the dust, and confined to a cycle of stagnant, never-ending age.
