One of the real pleasures of my expedition in Greenland was getting to know some incredible new people - this picture happens to show all three members of the “on camera” team that I wasn’t already long time friends with.
@heidisevestre is a French glaciologist who served as the team scientist. I’ve never met anyone as passionate about ice - she taught us all a lot about the snowy environment that we were traveling through.
@aadarmi is a Greenlandic guide who generally helped with the whole trip - he was always carrying the heaviest load with the biggest smile. And he wound up climbing the first wall with us, despite not really being a climber, which was an impressive effort.
And lastly there was @aldokane, who I likened to a Swiss Army knife - he had the skills for any job. He did so much for the team, both on and off the wall, and largely behind the scenes and not on camera.
Most importantly, they each had a wonderful sense of humor and were a pleasure to spend time with, key traits since we spent 6 weeks in tents and portaledges together. It was a physically hard trip, but they each made the work feel fun.
I hope I get to travel with each of them again in the future.
The picture is from our initial hike up the Edward Bailey glacier, which feels like a lifetime ago now.
