This afternoon, Ragu, the greatest love of my life, passed away from complications of Cushing’s Disease. Her story is a complicated one but it was fabulous; She was cared for, loved and supported by artists of all kinds from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. She camped, hiked, went to day care, visited beaches, traveled by train, plane, taxi, bike, car. She didn’t like being in water, hated The Bee Gees but LOVED Sade. Specifically the album Love Deluxe. She loved cucumbers, carrots, chicken, belly rubs and kisses between her eyes. She smelled like Fritos and snuggled every single morning. She attacked men with rattling keys or irregular gaits. Or men who didn’t acknowledge her when they entered a room. She hated children, loved being serenaded and preferred a pile of dirty laundry over a fancy dog bed. She hated fireworks loved being scratched behind her ear, and loved dancing to private dance parties. She had a crush on William at her daycare. She liked to howl and chase squirrels. And she once caught and intruder breaking into a neighbor’s apartment.
