The 2022 @isasurfing World Surfing Games officially started today in @surfcityusa with a press conference, parade of nations, and Sands of the World ceremony. USA flag bearer Kolohe Andino and Gabriela Bryan brought sand from Southside HB to combine with the sands from 50-plus nations to mark the official start of the Olympic qualifying event 🌎 🇺🇸💪🏽USA’s powerhouse team includes Gabriela Bryan, Zoe McDougall, Kirra Pinkerton, Kolohe Andino, Nat Young, Griffin Colapinto. Coach Ryan Simmons said, “being able to march down Main Street HB with surfers who I look up too, but also have mentored in an Olympic cycle qualifier means everything to me. We are fired up and will be bringing it all the next eight days.” Nat Young, Kolohe Andino, and Griffin Colapinto get things started for American men tomorrow (see schedule below) Women start Monday.
