I love New York. I love the way she swelters in summer. I love the way you brush up against the most beautiful and the most heart breaking parts of humanity on a single block. I love that she has nothing to hide— no shame. I love my tiny apt for a family of 4. I love her underbelly, the Pac-Man tunnels of subway cars, rats and the most interesting humans you’ve ever seen. I love that she pushes you to dream and asks you to find and own your weird. People say she changes but I think she’s steadfast and forever herself— gritty and real and weird... and sometimes she’ll give you a rainbow, but only if she means it.
