This pair of bracelets by Michelle Ong for @carnetjewellery, Hong Kong, emulates the ruffled black lace cuffs of an elegant dress shirt. The wide tapering forms look like peau de soie but are crafted of blackened silver with platinum, white gold and diamonds in a delicately pierced openwork design. Inspired by mid-eighteenth-century French manchettes—fabric cuffs decorated with buttons and lace—these were created in 2000 for a look that is historic, futuristic and very much of this moment.
