Knowing where to start when optimising your brain health is hard but these two simple facts will play a massive role.
1. Vitamin D!
Among the 1,000 genes that vitamin D controls is a gene in the brain called tryptophan hydroxylase 2 (TPH2), which encodes for the rate-limiting enzyme that converts tryptophan into serotonin in the brain.
Vitamin D may be important to producing serotonin in the brain from tryptophan. That’s pretty important!
Serotonin regulates a broad range of cognitive functions and behaviors.
It regulates social behavior, impulse control, decision making, anxiety, memory, impulse aggression and more.
2. Electrolytes
Electrolytes — minerals found in your body — play an important role in brain function. Electrolytes conduct nerve signals and regulate fluid balance in the brain.
Even if you aren’t sweating enormously, you can still benefit by hydrating correctly.
