“It’s Alright” is the latest song in our 2021 monthly song marathon! (Link in Bio). This one definitely has an early 2000s NYC, wandering the LES late night vibe. It started by Dave sending over a bunch of voice notes riffs in 2020. There was one riff that stuck out that caught my ear. It’s not exactly the same riff but was the spark that started this song. From that idea, I wrote the main riff, added the grimey disco punk drums, dirty funk guitar. I knew we had something. Then I started to build the stacked harmony vocals which was super fun. The last thing was the guitar solo, I broke out the 90s Rotovibe pedal to get that “who’s that lady” guitar sound. I love the minimalist vibe, just guitar, bass, sprinkle of piano & drums.
