Update: Senior kitties from West LA shelter, Von and Bailey received full panel bloodwork results yesterday. The results were not good, with severe kidney disease and hyperthyroidism on top of a bunch of other issues such as heart murmur, major dental, and feline leukemia.
Bailey had stopped using the litterbox and eating and they both had pretty bad issues with mobility. They went back to the vet today for a more thorough look, knowing these results and it was decided that the most humane thing to do was let them go in the arms of their loving foster. We are heartbroken but also know we did the right thing and all we could, though I wish they would have had more time to enjoy some comfort.
We don't know their backstory or what led to them being so sick and old at the shelter, but it breaks my heart that
despite all that, they were super sweet kitties till the end. I assume that they were someone's pets that they abandoned to live outside or maybe strays that never found a permanent home.
Thank you to everyone who donated and allowed us to give them a second chance, as they didn't die in a heartless, cold place, (by people who aren't even licensed) and INSTEAD had a few days worth of comfy beds, catnip, pets and yummy food. You will be remembered and your lives mattered 💔
