Their TikTok hauls all about ‘self expression’ and ‘XYZ-core’ aesthetic are actually fuelling racial capitalism like never before. 🔪 We have not even begun to unpack how much of the Global North’s food comes from 🇵🇰, how they dump their waste onto us(and call it ‘recycling’), how they distribute items unsuitable for consumption for the yts in our markets etc The list of ways yt ppl exploit us to unimaginable lengths and literally leach off of us is never ending. (See my 2 previous inforgraphics on how the ‘global’ climate crisis is yt supremacy) 🔪 There is no video that will ever be enough. All Pakistanis feel so overwhelmed rn. We’re experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions and if this was happening to yt folks in the Global North the world would literally stop functioning and come to a halt. We’re well aware that our lives are seen as less worthy compared to the lives of first world yts heck it’s hard to forget this fact. We know we have no one but each other and our neighbours/allies in these tough times. 🔪 Never ask me or anyone marginalised why we refuse to care about 🇺🇦 or anything happening to those more privileged than us. WE DO NOT OWE OUR OPPRESSORS ANYTHING let alone solidarity in their tough times. We are the ones who constantly have to face oppression, speak up on it, do the community work to restore whatever we have left and then we also have to hold space for those who oppress us? I literally do not care never will. Yes this is me picking and choosing just like the yts like to pick and choose whose lives are more worthy. I prioritise the suffering of Brown and Black ppl from the GS and then those in the GN.
