Timing is everything and there is no place where this is more apparent than the Land of the Long White Cloud. After two years of being the most tightly locked down country in the world, New Zealand suddenly opened. We booked our tickets immediately. On the 14-day whirlwind tour, our timing was impeccable, if not downright lucky. We were in a state of perpetual movement, chasing waves and weather, dodging storms and flat spells, and scoring.
