No one chooses to face a cancer diagnosis, and no one steps into the role of an advocate seeking recognition or rewards. The work that breast cancer advocates like @mycancerchic, the incredible team at @livingbeyondbc, and so many other amazing organizations do comes from a deeply personal and often painful place. It starts with someone who is suffering, someone who has experienced the fear, the uncertainty, and the physical and emotional toll that comes with a cancer diagnosis. The most wonderful part of being included in such events is seeing so many people transform their own pain into purpose, using their experiences to create resources, build communities, and amplify the voices of others who are facing similar battles. They fight to ensure that no one feels alone, that critical information is accessible, and that the larger systems surrounding breast cancer care and research continue to evolve and improve.
