feeling very happy to have this music on vinyl for the first time :) Huge thanks to @russelledling_ who took my notebook scraps and photos (as well as one by @saypirworf ) and made something so beautiful. If you ordered one it should ship soon! If you’d like to order one the link is in the bio! from the liner notes: These songs were written between 2015 and 2019 & represent most of the songs that make up the early chapters of Runnner. This album was recorded in 2019 & 2020 in Los Angeles, CA, Egremont, MA, Woodstock, NY, and remotely in Austin, TX. I started this project more or less to teach myself at-home production & to distract myself from the loneliness I felt from moving back to my hometown when none of my friends did. I had tucked away the few songs I had that predated the project because the only people who heard my music then were my friends and those songs felt too personal to show them. The rest of the songs from that early phase were written without the intention of ever being performed, or even really heard, just some material to practice recording with. I think that (lack of) intention let me write more honestly and I ended up with songs I liked more than I had written before. So I started playing them in living rooms, basements and tiny venues. I moved from LA to Providence and back. The band grew and morphed into a few different iterations. We toured a bit. We put out two more records. A lot changed over those years, and I again found myself alone in the garage, revisiting that original batch of songs. I think combining some of the first songs from this project with the most recent release makes a kind of circle that’s at the core of this record: a meditation on my own cycles of alienation and reconciliation. The earliest songs reaching out for connection, the later songs apologizing for letting that connection go, and the surprising/unsurprising way songs I wrote about problems I had 5 years ago still apply to a slightly different set of problems now. I’ve learned a lot in that time, made some mistakes, and been very lucky too. It’s with a lot of love nnn gratitude that I get to share these songs nnn I hope you like them. ♥️
