I was struggling today ... Disappointed with what’s been going on. Disappointed in how we are living. And it was hard for me to wrap my mind around it all. While yes there is a lot of good in this world and country and a lot to be thankful for ... I also think there’s a lot we could do better... and as Americans... we aren’t living up to our potential. And I don’t know how else to explain what I was feeling than just disappointed. Like that feeling of disappoint when you expect more out of your family member... Knowing they’re meant for more... They’re meant for greatness... But not acting in a manner that reflects that. You still love them... a lot and that’s actually why you feel disappointed. Well... that’s how I felt. Because I fucking love this country. I love our nation. I love people. And as I’ve reflected... Thought... And observed... I re-realized that it can be disappointing... And feel helpless... hopeless ... Or it can be a wake up call and the very reminder that I think we need. A reminder of what this country was founded on ... A reminder of the freedoms we have, and should have. A reminder that it’s our duty to continually work to uphold the Declaration of Independence and make our nation better. We are not perfect. We never have been. But we can improve. We can do better. We need to do better. And it starts at the individual level. And so while I started the day disappointed and struggling a bit, I am wrapping up the day in a much better mental place. Because I’m still damn proud to be an American and know we can do much better. And I’m hopeful that the collective patriotism grows stronger... Hopeful that we all truly think about our freedoms... The lives we live... And how we as an individual can do our part to continually make this nation what it should be. What it can be. Because we’re definitely still a work in progress, and it’ll take a lot of hard work and time... But it’s worth it. Your freedoms are worth it. America is worth it 🇺🇸
