the end of an era... shiva baby was born in the basement of nyu tisch, breastfed in a cramped bushwick apartment, potty trained in a sweaty flatbush house, learnt to walk just as a global pandemic hit, had its first kiss around the world (special s/o to @sxsw @tiff_net @melbfilmfest @adlfilmfest @outfest ), went to prom with distributor @utopiamovies and graduated in front of the world at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to something that has meant so much to me. we all sat at our table this past sunday, drank champagne and laughed at the fact that people were still talking about this tiny little movie despite filming it almost 3 years ago — but the simple truth is I’ll talk about @shivababymovie forever. it’s been the privilege of a lifetime to not only realise my dreams but to do so in the company of my best friends. thank you @emmmaseligman for trusting us & giving me the joy of a lifetime. thank you to shiva’s awesome fellow producers @katieschillerfilm & @lizzie.shapiro . thank you to our phenomenal crew, especially the production dept superstars @juliaseebeck @ameliaspitler @gcoello94 @rogermancusi & more. thank you to all our amazing financiers, donors, and volunteers. thank you to our out-of-this-world cast led by @treaclychild . thank you to my love @bkgii for your unwavering support over this wild four year journey, and most importantly, thank you to my family who has never doubted me for a second. thank you @filmindependent for this unbelievable honour. i’m not sure there’s anything more I can say but that — thank you. long live independent film & long live midnight malibu swims <3
