✨ New year, new name, who dis? Or: What the heck is going on over at Himalaya, and what was that Instagram post all about? 😱 (tl;dr: A restaurant specializing in the “flavors of India, Tibet & Nepal” remains open at this location. I took these photos while having lunch there on Jan. 5, 2026.) . 🏔️ If you’ve eaten at Himalaya Cuisine in @visitventura anytime over the past three years, you may have met the current owners without even knowing it had changed hands. That’s because they bought the local-favorite restaurant from its founding owner, Anup Rimal, back in January 2023 but kept the name, the signage, the website and the social media accounts as they had been for the previous 12 years. 🗓️ Flash forward to January 2026, when — according to a statement on the restaurant’s new website — the three-year clock ran out on the right to use the Himalaya Cuisine name and logo. Yash and Kiran Narang, the business’ now-no-longer-new owners, decided to rebrand it as Himalaya Fresh, a nod to the @freshcurrychefs restaurant they opened six years ago in @oldtowncamarillo .  🇳🇵 To that end, they unfurled an outdoor banner bearing the #HimalayaFresh name, had new menus printed, redesigned the website ... and apparently forgot/neglected to wrest control of the restaurant’s social media accounts from whomever held the passwords.
