WOMAN OF THE YEAR @glamourmag ☄️🖤💸 The @15percentpledge is presently shifting more than 10 BILLION Dollars in annual revenue to Black and BIPOC entrepreneurs across North America! I bet you didn’t know that in 2019 only 37 Black women had ever raised 1M or more dollars in venture capital. This year we are closing in at 200 and counting! A lot of people ask me, what is it like calling out all of these major corporations— and to be honest with you guys, it never really felt like a calling out. It was a calling in. Because this. The Pledge. Is an opportunity. Doing business with Black Businesses is not a charity proposition, it’s a smart and innovative business decision. My post on Instagram in May 2020 blossomed into one of the fastest growing non-profits in America, powered by 17 full time staff members and a fearless board. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to be creating impact at this scale. None of this would have ever been possible without @brothervellies a dream that I had which kicked off one cold Saturday at a flea market booth I put up in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
