I only get a handful of days every month where I feel strong and capable, and the weight moves smoothly. Does that surprise you? Are you the same? We as women have our menstrual cycles to take into consideration in our fitness journeys. There are certain points where we have a hormonal spike and feel awesome and full of energy! We also have times where the weight feels abnormally heavy and we are exhausted. My suggestion is to pay close attention to your body and your cycle. Figure out when your strong and weak points are. Work WITH your body and give yourself grace when you’re in your slumps. If you’re feeling good, don’t be afraid to add some weight and go for a PR! It’s also ok to know when it’s time to dial it down and drop the weight. Go for more reps at the lighter weight and focus on quality. You are going to experience a constant ebb and flow in your journey. Learn to work with it, push through when it’s tough and celebrate the good times! It’s all part of the experience! .
