Today on a whale watch, a group of 11 humpback whales were seen bubble-feeding off of Provincetown. In New England, especially during the summertime, humpback whales are well-known for bubble-feeding — a technique in which they exhale a circular net of bubbles to corral their prey (small fish) inside. The whale watch boat stopped 300 feet away from the whales per NOAA guidelines and went into neutral. The whales got closer to the boat as they continued feeding. When they surfaced, one of the adult whales made contact with the boat. The boat remained in neutral per NOAA guidelines and did not move until the whales were a safe distance away. #HumpbackWhales #Whales #WhaleWatch
