blends n highlights ✴️ from my last Lot Radio broadcast 📻📡 more time bending and experiments across decades! ⚠️ I want to make special mention of slide 2 : i’ve been asked by a few of you about doing wide tempo transitions when djing and this is a good example of a pretty simple approach: in this case transitioning out of classic detroit electro at 128 BPM into a Brazilian “coco” rhythm at 112bpm. when I approach a blend like this i like to ‘obscure’ the BPM for long enough that our sense of time somewhat disappears. In this case I have the cdj pitch fader set to Wide Mode and this track is pitch locked using the Master Tempo (not sync) - so I can slowly pull the speed further and further down without the pitch changing, i.e.: making it harder to notice time changing. outside of the mechanics of this, it helps to select two tracks that have drumless space, which makes this sound cleaner. this combined w some long reverb tail helps place the blend into a place of tempoless-ness.
