NOT an organic hater here! A good portion of our crops are farmed organically. My only frustration is that people expect perfect produce when buying organic.
A lot of organic produce is deemed unacceptable when being sorted for stores, so things like worm/pest damage, cuts, or molding fruit is automatically not going to the store. 🙅♀️
BUT in the store, when buying organic you are buying a product that has still been sprayed but has had less access to more effective materials. From fertilizers to pest management...
SO, I just advise you to expect to see:
- more cosmetic blemishes
- duller fruit skin
- shorter storage life
- smaller fruit in general!
The reason organic fruit is more expensive is because of having to pay people to spray more frequently (labor is expensive!) due to less effective materials, some organic certified materials can be super expensive, and less fruit makes it into the boxes going to your grocery stores due to grade requirements 😅
Hope you learned something!!
