100 Days Celebration is an auspicious occasion in the Chinese culture. It represents the wish that the baby will live 100 years.
In ancient times, when medical care was not that great, the infant mortality was very high. Thus, reaching the 100 days (also end of confinement back then), was an important milestone.
My mom made the red eggs with vinegar and colouring. The (red)eggs symbolise birth or a new start. The color red symbolise prosperity and good fortune. So it’s important to serve (red)eggs to your guests.
We served our guests “poon choi”, a traditional Cantonese festival meal (basin filled to the brim with premium food) with with many layers of different carefully selected ingredients with auspicious meanings. Shared amongst family and friends for blessing of unity. It’s also often served during Chinese New Year celebration.
Furthermore, I couldn’t resist to decorate our home a bit for the celebration. The matching Cheongsam cake took it to the next level hehe.
It was a really nice small family gathering. Also, to show my fam our new home. My favorite part was our entertainment. We prepared a surprise Lion King act where Yuna also took part in (I’ll post it in my stories 🤣😭).
This is how we celebrated my daughter yesterday. She is maybe extra spoiled because she is the first of her generation. I’m so grateful for these memories. I really count my blessings every day.
