On today’s episode of things that make me want to quit the internet. 😭🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Puh-leaseeeee do not do this! For some reason, “perineum sunning” is trending (again). The perineum is basically the area between the anus and the genitalia, and to be clear, it does NOT need sun exposure. There is no scientific evidence to uphold any of the claims about “boosting energy” for sunning this area of your body. Can you get skin cancer down there? Absolutely. Skin cancers, Including aggressive squamous cell carcinoma, can occur on the buttock, perianal area, perineum and genitalia—regardless of UV exposure. So, adding an additional skin cancer risk factor, like repeated UV exposure, is a recipe for disaster. Summary? Don’t do it, boo. ❌
