Do you value what you have more than you value the God who blessed you with it? This question is something we all must ponder day in and day out. The viewpoint that we hold of our material possessions will change how we live. Life is not merely what we take in, both food and information, and the body is more than what you put on, both clothing and the principles you follow based on the information you take in. The life that we live is so much more than this. It is inherently about presenting our bodies as living sacrifices to God, holy and pleasing to Him, thus providing our true worship to the Father. This includes our perception of the things that we own. Do we value them more than we value the presence of God in our lives? Do we compare what we have to what others have, thus robbing us of our joy and our gratitude? Praying that God would create in us a clean heart is absolutely vital for not letting our value shift away from God and to merely what He gives us. It’s a fine line we all must walk. My prayer is that we will align our standards with God’s and in doing so we may live in the light of His promises. Promises not for more stuff, but for more of Him. If you woke up tomorrow and lost everything like Job did, would you still rejoice and give God the praise He is so worthy of? Find your delight in the Lord today and trust that He will provide, because He has proven it over and over.
