“The Wind Cries Mary” -Jimi Hendrix This song has been a huge source of medicine since I first heard it when I was a kid. I spent very long stretches of time away from my mom between ages 8 and 22. I always knew she wanted to be close to me but couldn’t due to the circumstances. Now I hear my mother whenever I play these chords and I feel her closeness when I hear these melodies. She was always a huge Jimi fan. I still remember when she gave my my first Hendrix CD when I was 11 years old (right around the time I started playing guitar) It was the album “Are You Experienced?” A few years prior, she or my step dad put on “If 6 Was 9” from Axis: Bold as Love and it absolutely blew my mind. It was such an incredibly spiritual experience getting to perform this song so many nights in a row with @haleyreinhart on this most recent tour.
