We are devastated to learn that two Iranian protesters, Mohammad Mehdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, were executed this weekend. 22-year-old Mohammad Mehdi Karami was a karate champion and 39-year-old Seyed Mohammad Hosseini was a carer for his brother. Both men had appealed against their sentences, saying they had been tortured into making false confessions. Four individuals have now been hanged following death sentences ordered by the Iranian Supreme Court. Two more protesters, Mohammad Ghobadlou and Mohammad Boroughani, remain at imminent risk of execution. These two men have reportedly been transferred to solitary confinement. They could be executed at any moment. These horrific executions must be stopped.
