This is not a post to victimise my people, but a post to express my outrage about how the prime minister and the Australian government who are so quick to make a national day of mourning for the Queen, yet continues to dismiss our Blak voices and wishes to abolish Australia Day and respect that it is a Day Of Mourning for my people. I understand you can’t go back in time and change what your Ancestors did, but what you can do is try and change the way you operate and engage with the FN people of the country you all seem to benefit from. The monarch and Queen you respect so much and praise is the same monarch who ordered mass genocide, took our kids, stole our country, tore our sacred home up for its treasures and disrupted the oldest living culture in the world! Not only did they do this to my Ancestors (which wasn’t that long ago at all) they also made the same orders right around the world towards many other country’s and FN people, who still like mine suffer immensely because of the impacts and affects of colonisation. In this country I see almost everyone show their respects and commemorate the ANZACS, people who fight for this country today, the monarch and now apparently the Queen, but for my people on the day we mourn our Ancestors, it’s still celebrated. In case you haven’t noticed or choose to turn a blind eye, my people continue to die in custody at an alarming rate, with not one conviction or justice served! The stolen generation continues behind closed doors and this countries harsh laws continue to oppress and affect my people greatly! I can go on and on for days about the mistreatment and suffering my people continue to endure because of colonialism, but I don’t want to victimise my people, I want to empower and strengthen my people, for we are powerful warriors and we deserve respect!
