hi!! reintroducing my “nurse” self on here for national nurses day!! many of you guys know the side of me that loves going to try new coffee shops, new workouts, and loves running around modeling in nyc, but sometimes i forget to share the part of me that truly shows up every day! for those of you that don’t know, i’m also an operating room nurse who scrubs and circulates plastic surgery, general, robotic, urology, gynecology, and ortho cases on a daily basis! but with all my other passions - how did i get here?? well, when i was little i had a nurse save my life on national nurses day and that situation really changed the course of my life. i was the soloist singing in church during mass one morning and my heart completely stopped. i passed out and couldn’t be revived. the other people around told my mom that i probably wasn’t going to make it, until the only nurse in the church ran upstairs and saved my life by doing cpr on me, and she’s the reason i’m here today. from that moment on i knew i wanted to be able to save someone else’s life one day in return. along the way of growing up, i also discovered passions for musical theatre, modeling, photography, and figure skating, and honestly debated if i would go to school for musical theatre or nursing. i decided to go to school for nursing and pursue theatre in addition without getting a degree for it and my freshman year i signed with a theatre agency in nyc. after going through 4 years of nursing school and feeling like none of the bedside nursing specialties were truly my calling, my college offered an operating room course my senior year for those interested in seeing what it was all about in the or. and that’s when i discovered my passion in nursing. often times nursing school professors love to push this mentality that you “have to go into bedside nursing” or “med surg” right out of school in order to gain “experience” as a nurse, but that’s not true whatsoever. i couldn’t be happier with my choice of going straight into the or. i get to help perform surgery on people every single day and feel like i’m truly in the heat of the action in medicine. and i think the nurse who saved me would be proud. 🫶🏻
