The way the U.S. media has been handling coverage of Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico is disgusting. All the media has been focusing on is the Queen’s funeral. I don’t have time to argue with you about why Puerto Rico deserves more air time right now than the Queen’s funeral. The whole island is black out and hundreds of thousands of people are without running water. The electricity grid is out. And yet there is barely any media coverage of the Hurricane because of the Queen’s funeral. Boricuas in the diaspora deserve to know what’s happening on the island to their loved ones and communities. They deserve live updates on the disaster response. This is abhorrent behavior on behalf of the media and it deserves to be called out. Grateful that yesterday President Biden declared an Emergency Disaster Declaration to ensure full Federal government support for the people of the Puerto Rico. Biden activated FEMA and approved federal funding, as opposed to waiting until thousands of people die before going down and throwing paper towels at people. Praying for everybody on the island. Check out my last post for a list of organizations to donate to. Puerto Rico we stand with you. ✊🏾 #puertorico #pr #puertorico🇵🇷 #boricua #puertorican #isla #sanjuan #puertoricostrong #sospuertorico #hurricane #hurricanfiona #latino #latinos #latinosunidos #latina #aid #mutualaid #hurricanrelief #humanitarian #humanitarianaid #naturaldisaster #badbunny
