3 years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus and it completely changed my life. My life revolves around doctor visits, medications, hospital trips, and treatments. Although I have struggles tremendously, I am luckier than most. I have an amazing support system, intelligent and caring team of doctors and insurance that allows me to obtain life saving treatments. 🦋 On average, people struggle for six years before they receive a diagnosis and begin proper treatment. Even after a diagnosis, there are years of trial and error before finding the right medications and lifestyle changes that work for them. 90% of people living with Lupus are women and it is still unknown what is the cause of this autoimmune disease. 🦋 This year my family and I wanted to join the fight by creating the Unwavering Butterflies team that will walk in the NYC lupus walk on October 8th.
