It’s #ThankfulThursday and today, I’m thankful for my CEO peer group and the amazing people in it including my friends @tope.awo Founder + CEO of @calendlyhq and @aorady, Founder + CEO of @tonal. 💪 💡Why I believe in peer groups: ⚡️When I was in high school, I wasn’t the best student. Spoiler alert: I was a social 🦋 who really struggled to find my purpose in school until I joined Future Business Leaders of America and DECA. Those extracurricular groups allowed me to be surrounded by other students who had a passion for business and I learned invaluable skills (including product development👩🏻‍🔬, supply chain, marketing and more!) ⚡️ In college, my peer group was my colleagues at #sephora where I was a makeup artist. Being surrounded by creative geniuses who had deep passion for beauty products electrified my soul and help propel me to finish my degree. ⚡️After college, I was fortunate to be in a marketing roundtable that met monthly, locally in the greater-Seattle area. I was a marketing coordinator and they were mostly CMOs but they accepted me in their group because they were looking for fresh perspective from a recent grad. I learned so much from those leaders! ⚡️ For the first 5️⃣ years of Thrive Causemetics, I wasn’t in a formal peer group and always made the excuse that I was too busy at TC to carve out time for a group. Through my network, I was introduced to the group to phenomenal CEOs in this video with me and I’m so glad for the time I’ve invested in it! ⚡️ Whether it’s a peer group of mothers who have children a similar age to you, people who have hobbies that you’re passionate about or a business-focused peer group, I highly encourage everyone to consider peer groups for themselves! In addition to upleveling your skillset, you’ll be surrounded by people who will: 1️⃣ Challenge you to grow + be better 2️⃣ Hold you accountable and call you out to your face when needed 3️⃣ Support you on your journey 4️⃣ Share key learnings to help you see around corners 5️⃣ Help you focus your priorities 6️⃣ Show you that you’re not alone when you’re struggling
