When I found out we'd be nominated for not one BUT TWO awards at the @_bsme (British Society of Magazine Editor’s) awards I thought it was some kind of mistake. Genuinely. I’ve been at this a long time - blogging since 2007, trying to make this print thing work since 2015 - and although within the wedding industry I’ve always been pretty well established, the wider publishing world is something I know nothing about. I don’t know anyone else who does what I do, and I certainly don’t get invited to events where I'll be in the same room as some of the biggest names in British publishing! Did we win? No, of course not. But without wanting to sound like the biggest cliché in the world, it REALLY TRULY was an honour to even be nominated. I am incredibly proud of what we do with @rocknrollbridemagazine. It’s not easy making a print product in 2022 with costs sky high and everyone else doing everything online. We don’t have offices, or a big team - it really is just the two of us making this shit up as we go along + an army of incredible freelancers who kill it every time with their writing, design, proofing, photography and styling. Our next issue will mark 8 years of us being in print 😱 and if you’d told me back when I was starting a blog about our wedding plans in 2007 that I’d not only be making it into an actual magazine but I’d have been nominated for an award with Vogue, The Sunday Times magazine, Empire, Fabulous and Stylist magazine as my competition well, there’s no chance in hell I would have believed you. Thank you for your unbelievable support over the years, I don’t want this post to sound too twee but it really does mean the entire world. I know the internet is fabulous, but there is still something SO SPECIAL about print and it’s not something I plan to give up any time soon! Please keep buying the magazine, keep advertising with us and keep submitting your incredible weddings and shoots for us to publish. We could not do what we do without you 🤘🏼💕
