A week ago today we said goodbye to our beautiful brown eyed girl. We are heartbroken but so very grateful for the almost 10 years that she was part of our family. We adopted Candee from Virginia Greyhound Adoption after she had been a racing dog for five years. She was living in a crate with straw for a bed and was so happy that she finally had 8 beds of her own. She loved couches too and we would often find her on the front couch looking out the window watching our neighbors in Ukrainian Village. She was our elegant queen but also had her quirky side who loved to get tangled up in her giant stuffed caterpillar, her favorite gift from Caroline. For the most part she was a quiet soul but she loved to greet Allan after a trip and danced with him in the yard. Candee was the queen of our cottage but was so patient when Danette came to stay with us in 2019. She shared her beds, her couches, her humans, and even her bowls sometimes. They were never far apart from each other and were the best of friends. If you know me you know how much I love being at home in our cottage, but what I loved most was coming home to Candee. Our cottage is so quiet without her but we know she is running free with Danette and Norma. We will love you forever sweet girl, thanks for adopting us too. 🤎 #virginiagreyhoundadoption #greyhoundsonly #chicagonorthsidegreyhounds
