This is all so surreal and yet it is somehow true! On September 29th at 7pm I will give my inaugural reading as the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States at the Library of Congress. The event is free and open to the pubic but you still need to register (link in bio). It will also be live streamed. I feel utterly humbled by all of this and I wrote in my notebook on September 1st: Joyful service. And that’s what I hope to focus on. I keep thinking of this poem by Emily Dickinson as how I feel about poetry right now: “Not knowing when the Dawn will come, I open every door.”
