This is a first, I actually kept a secret. ...and oh, what a fun secret this is. On my son’s 8th birthday (November 6), I’ll be running the TCS NEW YORK CITY MARATHON! I can’t imagine a better way to spend a birthday than to celebrate with the New York Road Runners + 50,000 runners + over 10,000 incredible volunteers + 2.5 million spectators lining the course. I mean, come on, this sounds like the ultimate birthday party, right?!? This Spring, when my coach and I were talking about our fall racing plan, we decided we wanted to pull off a fall double. Then, I had an electric experience in my first NYC race at the Mastercard NY Mini 10k in June and I knew I wanted another bite from the big apple. We knew a lot had to go right for this to come to fruition and I am so appreciative to @nyrr for allowing me to focus on the Berlin Marathon race and recovery before announcing. Well, guess what? Berlin went well... but the recovery and return to training has gone even better. I’m excited to return to NYC for the BIG ONE at the @nycmarathon on November 6.
