More fun Easter Eggs from 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'.. these aren't things I thought anyone would notice, but it made for some fun universe building.
1. I only had two days to prep for Foster The People's music video 'Don't Stop'.. I sourced two similar Toyota hatchbacks on Craigslist and spray painted them red out in front of my house. I didn't have time to make fake license plates.. so the license plate featured in the video is actually one of the real plates that was came with the car we bought. There was some concern about using that real license plate, so we covered it with a heavy coat of dust.. underneath, it's one of the really cool 1984 California 'sunset' plates. Our Propmaster @propmasterjosh made replicas of the original plates, and we used them on the Wang Laundry RV.
2. There are very few props or set dressing that survived the 'Turn Down For What' music video shoot. That said, one very prominent piece of Set Dec still lives on.. the lampshade from the 'Turquoise Room'. I used it in the Hot Dog Hands Universe apartment dining room. Our Set Decorator @kelsiephraim hated the lampshade.. but I made her use it. Sorry Kelsi 😀
3. The Payphone was originally a prop purchased for a film I worked on in 2010 called 'Pickin & Grinnin'.. since then, it's appeared in a bunch of music videos, commercials, and movies (The Greasy Strangler, Sorry To Bother You, Palm Springs). It's almost become a joke on set "Jason's going to try and bring his payphone.. ha ha". A couple specific Daniels music videos the payphone is in are Battles' "My Machines" and Passion Pit's "Cry Like a Ghost". We used it in EEAAO outside the Laundromat.. I don't remember if it actually made the final cut.
