The truth is, we rescue a ton of adorable dogs here. Breeds like this mini Aussie mix, that many people desire. But as great as it is to love a certain breed, after a dog has experienced trauma, neglect, suffering or abuse, they usually become a type of dog you have absolutely no experience with.⁣ ⁣ Just because you’ve owned an Aussie before doesn’t mean you’ve owned a Charlotte. You may love the breed but what happens when she’s nothing like the breed you love? What happens when she’s terrified of you for weeks? What happens when she’s so scared she bites you or your dog?😥⁣ ⁣ Most people don’t have what it takes to stick those things out and that’s why most of our apps can’t work. We need people ready to stick it out, through the good the bad the ugly. Those who realize this has nothing to do with what they want, but instead what they can give back.⁣ ⁣ This video of Charlotte shows a glimpse of her trauma. It shows how scared of humans she is. She is scared to even take a treat. Imagine her ending up with someone who just loved Aussies and wanted her for her breed or size alone?⁣ ⁣ Charlotte is so much more than her breed, looks, age, size or sex. The things most people use to pick out a dog. None of that will erase her trauma which is why we must focus on finding her a home that truly wants to rehabilitate her back to life. To build her back up. To put the trust back into her mind, body and soul.❤️‍🩹⁣ ⁣ So sure, you can feel called to help her but your help has to be fueled by the right reasons and if we determine your home would be better for a different dog, it wouldn’t matter because you’d just be here to help where you could.⁣ ⁣ Finding these hearts is hard. It’s almost impossible to find people who don’t come to us with a long list of their own wants and wishes for their rescue dog.
