The idea of contouring and highlighting is to accentuate your existing bone structure & face shape & not creating a new one. And till you don’t understand your own face you won’t be able to get the contouring to look natural. Just a few things to keep in mind that would help
1. You don’t necessarily need to use a blush or a highlighter. Just contouring looks good too. Blush just adds a little bit of life to the whole look by making your cheeks look flushed. But contouring alone is just enough to add dimension to your face.
2. Always start with lesser product. If you over contour your cheeks, it may look amazing from the front but it will make your cheeks look pigmented & muddy from the side. Start subtle & build it up if needed. Just remember less is more.
3. You can also use the blush right on the highest point of your cheeks. And the highlighter can come on top of it.
4. To go subtle or loud with the blush is completely your personal choice and what you like more. What also matters is the color of the blush. If you want a pop of color, a bright pink is a good option. But if you want a safer, more subtle look, go for more muted pinks & peaches.
5. Don’t put the contour below the cheekbone, it should be ON the downward curve of the bone. If it’s any lower, then it will only make your cheeks look heavy & saggy.
6. Don’t be intimidated. It’s really not a big deal if you mess up :)
