I started working out because I was tired of being the fat kid. I was tired of being made fun of. I was tired of not having girls like me. I was embarrassed to take my shirt off at the pool. Hell... I was actually even embarrassed to take my shirt off in the locker room changing for P.E. class! Now I could try and make some motivational story about how I did it for me... and I wanted to better my life to be a better version of myself... and so on... But the truth is, i started working out with hopes of fitting in. And while many people have a big “why” or defining reason they take their health seriously and get in shape... That wasn’t it for me. I started because I was insecure. I wanted to be “accepted.” I wanted to be anything but “the fat kid.” And I’m thankful for that. Because that insecurity got me moving and keeps me moving. Which is step one of change. You have to move. You have to take action. But all to often people don’t. Waiting for the right time... The right plan... The right reason... But what I continue to see is that a strong reason, or “why,” is certainly needed for longevity of sticking to the plan... And my why is different now. But it’s not required to start. You don't have to have some well thought out, massive reason to start... But YOU have to start. I am a better man to this day because I started. It hasn't been easy... and over the course of my fitness journey I have been up, I have been down, I have gained confidence and I have lost confidence... And at times I still battle insecurities. But because I started... I've grown to love fitness, the lifestyle, the workouts, and it's improved my quality of life exponentially... So no matter your goal... no matter the reason why... Start.
