I think I just got Hallyu’ed.
Hallyu – directly translated in Chinese is “Korean Wave” and is also the name of the latest exhibition at the V&A, showcasing the phenomenal growth of Korean culture encompassing everything from music, movies, drama to online fan activism. Explore the makings of the Korean Wave and its global impact on the creative industry.
While I have a lot of respect for Korean pop culture, I can’t say I am a fan. My brother loves it, in fact K-series is the only thing showing on his Netflix recommendations. Of course I watched Squid Game (who hasn’t) and I am currently binging on Narco-Saints but I’m no expert. I came for the fashion, which did not disappoint. What I didn’t anticipate was that I would leave a K-popstar.
Currently taking name suggestions for our new K-pop band.
