The family and friends of Dolores Wong to dedicate a plaque at a new plaza in Chinatown in honor of philanthropist Dolores Wong philanthropist, courtesy of Councilmember Gil Cedillo. Dolores Wong’s philanthropy also made it possible to fund and establish the first public library in Los Angeles’ Chinatown, which Dolores considered one of her most satisfying contributions to her community. Dolores was honored during her lifetime by many organizations, including the YWCA, the Organization of Chinese Americans, the Asian Pacific Women’s Network, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, the Chinatown Public Safety Association, and Friends of the Chinese American Museum. Joining the dedication were her daughter Shelly Wong, retired Professor at George Mason University in Virginia, son Kent Wong, Director, UCLA Labor Center and Marshall Wong, Senior Human Relations Consultant, County of Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations.
