This week, I had the humbling honor of co-chairing with Brian Cooley, the Vail Warrior Alliance night of tribute in support of the Navy SEAL Foundation and the incredible work they do in support of the Navy Special Warfare community and especially our Gold Star Families.
During the course of the evening, our guests of honor, 14 retired Navy SEALs, with over 220 years of combined service among them, shared stories of their journey from BUD/S to today and reminded us the “The Only Easy Day is Yesterday.”
In a complicated world, this gathering was a powerful reminder of what truly matters — service, community, family, kindness AND selfless generosity.
One unforgettable moment: a generous supporter won a seven-day vacation package… and immediately donated it to a Navy SEAL in attendance, so he could take his three daughters on a much-deserved getaway. Before the applause even settled, another donor stepped forward to cover their airfare.
That’s the kind of overwhelming generosity and kindness that defines the Vail Valley.
Grateful to everyone who attended our sold out night of tribute and provided their incredible generosity and support and those that made this event possible — especially our incredible partners at Town of Vail, Vail Resorts, STIO, Luminox, Hard Head Veterans, J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery, https://thegoldenbear.com, Manor Vail Lodge, Breckenridge Grand Vacations, Gorsuch, Shakedown Bar, Vail Real Estate Center , 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co. and the Vail Daily
We came together to honor our warriors and especially their families — and left inspired by the depth of human kindness.
