What: a cutaneous phototoxic eruption caused by the interaction of furocoumarins found in some common plants and UV light. It often appears as linear or geometric (drip marks) on the skin. Blisters often appear followed by hyperpigmentation that can be persistent. ā£

Common triggers include: limes, other citrus fruits, celery, figs, meadow grass, certain weeds. ā£

Who: it affects any age, gender, ethnicity! Those who handle citrus fruits, squeezing limes outdoors, hikers, bikers, etc are at higher risk. ā£

Treatment: typically just supportive as it will resolve. However, sometimes in severe cases, oral or topical steroids or antihistamines may be utilized. ā£
