A common theme I’ve been hearing among people’s stories is the phrase “if you know me, you know Camp Mystic”. I think that perfectly describes the amount of influence that Mystic has held on countless young women for almost 100 years. It is impossible to know a Mystic girl and be unaware of the fact that she experienced majority of her summertime in the comforting warmth of Hunt, Tx. Just a few days ago I was in the process of having my 11th summer in the place that I treasure the most. After now being home for just a few days it is so hard to wrap my mind around the tragic reality that occurred. I will always remember Mystic as the place where I was shaped into a better person, felt it bring out the best in me, and most importantly, grew spiritually. Where everything we needed to know, we learned in kindergarten. Where your face started to hurt from smiling too much all day. Where God’s presence was so evident you could practically feel him. Mystic is more than just a place. It is more than just a community. It is a home. My heart is breaking and I am sending all of my love and prayers to everyone affected by these catastrophic floods and so much love to the incredible staff who are true heroes that God worked through so heavily that day. 💚 To the Eastland Family- Thank you for being the most influential part of my life from my childhood to now. Just a day before the storm when it started raining, Dick and Tweety drove by Mary Susan and I on their Kawasaki and said, “Wow! It’s pretty cloudy today. You guys can be the sunshine for the girls today!” I am so thankful for the love you have shown me and everyone that has had the pleasure of coming into your presence. May the Lord, mighty God, bless and keep you forever; grant you peace, perfect peace, courage in every endeavor.
